Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Ground Zero Monument, Times Square, Broadway plays, Yankees or Shea stadiums, East Village, Madison Square Garden, Wall Street, Coney Island, SOHO.... You could literally spend a couple weeks there and not do all of the tourist stuff NYC has to offer.
The "Circle Line" is a sightseeing cruise that sails around the island of Manhattan. They explain a ton of history throughout the tour. We did it a few years ago and really enjoyed it.
If you like pizza (and if you formerly didn't), find a Two Boots pizza place - their slices amount to a meal. http://www.twoboots.com
I agree 100%. I went to the top of the Chrysler building, that was fun. You can take rides through the good parts of the park. The people were super nice a few years back when I went... The women were gorgeous, all the time, I don't honestly remember seeing an ugly woman. The street performers were cool, go inside the big M&M's store, that's a lot of fun also. The night life there is absolutely unreal.... I went for an extended weekend by myself, didn't sleep, and still couldn't get everything in...

There's a famous wax museum there too. "Madam something or other's" wax museum. The wax statues are REMARKABLY lifelike. I've been there twice.
Visit Michael Bloomberg and give him our compliments... right in the nuts!
