I had to leave and couldn't wait for the end after all the credits...
Last I saw the elder Tonto was shuffling across the desert with a suitcase...anything else happen or did he just shuffle off into the sunset?

The kids said they liked it. Wife and I agreed the story went from stupid to worse. If it was on TV, I would have changed the channel about halfway through. Depp is good as some characters, but an Indian isn't one. The ranger was a complaining anti-violent puss the whole way through. I guess I am spoiled from having watched the TV series growing up. Too much PC crap, but what do you expect from Disney.

I was annoyed by the heavy handed leftist/critical theory politics that has become standard fare for Disney movies lately. White, capitalist, Christian, Americans are all evil/greedy/stupid/meanies. I think that cavalry captain was supposed to be a caricature of Custer...long blond hair, etc.
The whole thing was tongue-in-cheek. I'll bet Verbinsky and Bruckheimer had a good time making it.
It had some music segments from Hell on Wheels and Once Upon a Time in the West...wonder how they got away with that?
I avoided the movie just because Johnny Depp was involved. The trailers looked stupid too -- Clayton Moore must be rolling in his grave.
Yeah, it wasn't very "lone ranger" from the radio broadcasts I used to listen to (on tape that is), more "Pirates of the Caribbean" than LR. Still, it was ok, maybe "go see at the cheap theater/borrow from the library."
Although, the long rendition of the William Tell overture they did during the fight scene was pretty cool, kept changing keys/slightly different variants during highlights of the fight. (And I now have to link to another fun rendition, done by my fav Youtube guitarist erock: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djcYX...eature=mh_lolz )
Oh, and yes, as others said just shuffled. I was hoping there'd be something, but no, just....shufflin...
