Angry Just got my weekend ruined

I went today to grab a few items for our office birthday celebration for this month. I went to use my debit card and it gets declined. Odd since I picked up my prescriptions last night, but used a credit card just so I could get out and back to the office in time. I look up my info on USAA and see paypal instant transfers going out to someone name Joshua Stahley, no clue who this is. I log into paypal and see the transactions in there and open disputes and see it will take 10 business days to respond. Not going to work for me, so I call them up to see what the fuck the charges are for. They say that they were sent as payment for goods, but the IP address used to log in was in China. Now something clicks since I deleted a few emails from them in Chinese Han script thinking they were spoofs. They said to call my bank and tell them to file an ACH request due to an unauthorized account usage. USAA says they have to mail me a form to fill out, get notarized and send back to them so they can start the process. So basically all the money I had saved for building an AR is gone, CC payments scheduled for tomorrow are not happening, gas and grocery money is gone and paypal says the funds were immediately withdrawn so they have nothing to refund me. So I am stuck waiting for USAA to be able to do their process which they say can take up to 45 days to resolve. I get paid Monday, but I have nothing for this weekend and my wife is in Vegas working on the Carpenter fire near Pahrump. So it's me, the dogs and some ramen noodles. Between this and the multiple problems associated with a family member stealing my identity I've come to the conclusion that I'm not meant to save money or buy a house of my own.

That's the first negative I've heard about USAA ever. Even crappy ass US Bank has money back in my account within minutes when I've seen fraud on my account (someone once used it for $382 online for Crocs? How do you spend nearly 400 bucks on those damn things).

That sucks man. Hope it gets sorted out quickly. Good reason to keep a couple grand in cash in the safe, just to refund the account in case something like this comes up.

X2 Credit card only on paypal. Chargebacks are a lot easier to deal with than cash missing out of your account.

Sad to hear. I have been a victim of ID theft too. Now my bank resolved the charges within 48 hours. I buy alot of things online so I opened anorher checking account that does not have overdraft protection. When I buy online I only put what is needed to pay in the account. On the law enforcement part of ID theft I am not to impressed by how banks go after these thieves, they dont seem to want too. I caught a waitress and cashier several years ago skimming my credit card, also caught a Gamestop employee doing that as well.

Unless the bank presses the issue, there are no charges filed. Bank Fraud is like repeat calls to the same address with domestic violence. Complaints are heard but charges are never filed.

I also set up a different account for all online buying and I don't have it linked to anything else.

I set up a prepaid Walmart card for all of my online purchases. When I want to buy something, I just go put the money on my card. I don't have to worry about anything ever happening since there is no overdraft on it. If anyone did get ahold of my card number, I would see that they tried to buy something and failed because the lack of money, and I could just cut up the card, and go get a new one...
