While its a classic rifle and loved by many. It has its limits like a 8 round clip. But you might as well enjoy your gun and modify it the way you like. But just don't do anything that can't be undone.

exactly, its a great gun for its time but obselete compared to modern guns. not calling it useless though. i would love to take mine to iraq. . . . . with my 12 gauge on the bottom.

30-06 is a fine round that should make a comeback. Same with the .45 ACP. There is no need to shoot an enemy more than once when you fighting for your life and ammo cache is a concern.

but you can fit 3x as much 223 as 30-06 in a given amount of space. plus its way cheaper to produce.

I'm talking stopping power. If the enemy acts like a zombie and only goes down when you shoot him in the head what fun is that? A Garand on the other hand is just what the doctor ordered. Just make it magazine fed with a burst function. And if a soldier thinks it kicks to much give him the .308.

    Just my opinion though.

oh yeah i agree with you about the stopping power, exactly why i said i would take my garand with me in iraq. only complaint ive ever heard was that a bandolier lets you know your out, it also lets the enemy know your out. . . . .

nice, lol. im sure theres a shotgun on the other side. that reminds me of a story my friend in the marines told me. he said that one time he was on a patrol in iraq and he saw 5 terrorists standing in a group. he didnt know what they were doing so he started watching them. turns out they were setting up a bomb but they werent too good at it and they ended up blowing themselves up.
