I do have a tinfoil hat, but the population, "We" always bitch after a natural disaster or large scale accident when the .gov doesn't respond well. The reaction times and coordination are better with training. How many Guardsmen do you know? I know a few, and none of them have any interest in a coup.
Yes scare mongering, but dont you find it a bit concerning that as you drive down I25 and you see a electronic signs informing you that military vehicles will be on the highway for a large exercise. Sad that I cant find any other news article explaining the signs for over a day . Many moons ago I drove a Hummer along with other soldiers up and down this same highway for trainings and no signs were posted. I see military vehicles on the high way all the time and never saw signs before posted.

There was even a video segment on 9News in the last few days. But...they didn't explain or even mention the ominous signs.
I also recall a military exercise here in Park Co some time ago and there were signs on 285 in South Park re: the exercise. Also, we did a SWAT drill in Greenwood Village (late 90s) and basically took over an entire medium-rise building. Part of the exercise included signage on the major roads (though I don't know if there were any on I-25) in the areas warning of a concentrated police presence and emergency vehicles in the area.
Make of that what you will. I don't think it's unusual at all.

Cool... good for them, they need more training. I have a buddy from AIT who works at COANG HQ in Denver, his wife just had a baby so he's on vacation for all this, but he was part of the S2 planning for this operation earlier this year and said the general consensus among the troops and brass alike is that this is some good training. It's mostly addressing some of the short comings in dealing with a disaster that were discovered after Katrina. A lot of the LA NG had never done anything like that before nor had they really trained for something that large scale. CO needs to be prepared for a large scale disaster like the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires- two of the worst fires on record- in case they go from bad to worse and we do need to declare a state of emergency. I'm with Bailey on this, I don't trust our government as far as I can throw them (and they've gotten quite big and fat over the years), but I see nothing nefarious about this, it's helping to establish better communication and coordination abilities for the various agencies and organizations that would go into action if something bad ever did happen. It seems in this day in age the biggest threat we face here in this state would be a large scale wildfire, and the NG is one of our best assets to help fight that. My dad saw that first hand when he was an IC on the Hayman fire years back, coordinating COANG CH-47's and UH-60's with bambi buckets and combining their logistics guys with the incident management team/commanders- let's just say it wasn't an easy task and they didn't have a whole lot of training for that scenario, but they made it work.

The first thing to do is PANIC!!
The second is to get everyone else to PANIC!!
Third, get your feed bag, red bull, AR and chest rig and camp out in your front yard.
Non sarcastic point starts here:
If the .gov were going to try something they would secure their own AO first. They will secure the area around Washington DC and their havens (Martha's Vineyard and places like that), and when they move you'll know it in about 30 seconds if you're on the webz.
Think like an elitist before you get your panties in a bunch, elitists are selfish if nothing else and they'll want to secure their own work and play areas first.
Im not too concerned avout what they are training for but WHO they are traing against.. In other words who are the terrorists in this scenario?
