Do a gun trust... Dave Weaver down here in Douglas Co is the same way and he owns NFA items. He won't sign anyones including cops. All but one of the form 4's I've seen returned for errors were by sheriffs. Do a trust.

BTW, We've heard all of this before Oblowme got into office. Was a lot of talk about removing suppressors from the NFA requirements as they were so common and the $200 didn't cover the cost of the process. AND....
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Of course they would when I'm already sending of SBR paperwork. I'm sure they'll change it the day after they start mine in the process just because that's my luck. Also considering a couple additional suppressors.

    Yup.

I wouldn't count on getting our $200 back.

Did I miss the part where it said they would not still be taking money?

All this means is it's going to take six months instead of twelve. Oh wait didn't it used to take six months?

Now that I've finally had time to read what is being proposed this is NOT going to make the process any easier and in fact will make it more difficult.

BTW, the article talks about form 5320.1 which is NOT the form to apply for SBR. That is a Form 1. Form 5320.1 is the form to Certify your Compliance with the Citizenship required for Form 1 to be processed. They want to change the format to 8.5x14? Fuck that shit! They just keep doing little things to make it more and more difficult to jump through all the hoops. Now they're adding another hoop (how many of you have the ability to print 8.5 x 14" documents front & back easily) under the guise of streamlining? This shit is SO annoying! This doesn't streamline shit... it makes it even more complicated for the average Joe to print off the forms he needs at home and prepare them for sending off. The debit/credit card versus check thing is pointless and saves zero time. With recent changes in laws to how checks are processed it takes a couple of days for out-of-state checks to clear and it takes about the same time for a credit card charge to clear a ACH anyway. Funds are actually in their account at the same time and you know they're not budging until they get paid either way. Hell, if they wanted they could 'instantly' and electronically process your checks upon receipt in the exact same way they process credit/debit cards currently.

Seriously, the NFA process needs serious updating. Supressors should be sold on the same aisle as earplugs, with exatly the same requirements for purchase: Do you have $xx.xx?

Other than the extra paperwork and the tax, does anyone know exactly what the BATFE does when processing an NFA item? I mean, a CBI takes minutes (again... finally). What else is BATFE doing with the application?
