    This hits the nail on the head. ...and is apparantly really hard for some people to grasp.

    CTFD doesn't mean not saying "no". It just means to chill out and let your kids be kids. If they want to play in the mud, let them play in the mud! ...Just don't forget to hose them off before they come back in the house.
