By now, we've all heard about the motorcyclist who used his CCW handgun to stave off 3 would-be knife-armed robbers on Marksheffel Rd. last Wednesday (July 17), but I received this alert from one of my unit's Security team members (and an inactive member of this site) today:

For your safety and awareness!

A pattern of robbery activity has recently emerged, where a pair of armed suspects has been robbing victims as they utilize the drive thru at business and banking institutions.

Since July 05, 2013 five cases have been documented and investigated:

07/05/13 at 10:05PM - Wells Fargo Bank, 9649 Prominent Point, near Brairgate Blvd. and Powers

07/06/13 at 9:30PM - US Bank, 1415 N. Academy Blvd. (Academy and Palmer Park)

07/09/13 at 2:01AM - Taco Star, 605 N. Circle Dr.*

07/19/13 at 9:55PM - ENT Credit Union, 3125 Jetwing Dr.

07/20/13 at 9:34PM - US Bank, 1415 N. Academy Bd.

The suspects in these cases are armed with handguns and pepper spray; *there were shots fired during the incident on 07/09/13.

Description: Hispanic males in their late teens, 5'05" to 5'08" tall with thin builds.

The suspects wait until their victims are stopped within the confined area of the drive-thru service area and then approach very aggressively.

Citizens are advised to exercise extreme caution.

Recommendations: Use an ATM inside an open business. Avoid using ATM's during the dark. If you must use one at night, drive around first and check for suspicious persons/cars and make sure someone knows where you are. If you see someone suspicious, leave the area immediately and call the police with a description.
