Back when I was in the Army I met a blind date at Starbucks....she was attending CU Boulder at the time and I had just moved to Colorado. We started talking about what we did and when I told her I was Army, she looked at me and seriously said "How do you like killing babies?"
I got up and walked out the door and left. After I drove away I thought of a million come backs, but oh well LOL.
I believe the main difference is if you're only interested in casual dating, or if you're looking for something more serious. I got tired of discovering that some of the girls I dated had views that were opposed to mine more than a few weeks after we'd started dating, not because I had any real intention of getting serious with them but it was at best annoying. After I decided I was done with the casual dating thing and was actually thinking about something more serious, I decided to make sure I didn't have this issue again.
So I talked to this girl on our second date, and said "Look, just on the chance that this might get anything more than just casual I want to make sure that there aren't going to be any issues that would cause a real hardship. I'm not saying it WILL get serious, but just in case..." And I ticked off what I considered important; told her I enjoyed shooting and owned guns. That I owned and enjoyed riding motorcycles. That I was military, and a little of what that involved. Four wheeling/off roading, hunting, you get the picture. She turned out not to have any objections or issues with any of it, and it helped me to get to know her better and her, me. She also turned out to be the girl I married (16 years now). And later on, she said that she agreed with how I went about doing that little bit of "interviewing", and my reasons for it.
A few weeks after we started dating, she outshot my best friend while he and his wife (who set us up) were out off-roading and shooting with us. With a .44 Mag. His... And our first Christmas together, my Christmas present from her was a Stainless Springfield 1911. That sealed the deal for me, right there!

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.
