    Default Cutting a stock

I found a good used Marlin xt22 with a plastic stock for my daughter. I need to cut it to fit her. What is a good way to measure how much I need to cut?
My 15-22 measures 10.5 inches from trigger to buttplate with the stock collapsed and its still too big for her. The stock is hollow so when I add a buttplate I think I need to cut almost 6 inches off the stock which is a bit more than 13 inches long.

    A good rule of thumb:
Place the butt in the bend of her elbow and have her run her arm up towards the trigger. Measure the difference between where her trigger finger is and the trigger. Add an inch for her to grow into.
Keep in mind if it is a hollow stock you may have to deal with the loss of the means to attach the buttplate.
Shortening a stock is not an easy, straightforward task as it may appear. The angles can bite you in the keester.

Give me a holler if we can be of assistance.

I was hoping you wouldn't say that. Do I need to cut at the same angle the stock is now? That I can do. If its more complicated than that I may come up to see you for a quick look at it.
The stock is hollow. Once I get the buttplate fit I can rough up the inner surface and epoxy some braces to drill/screw into.

Wait a year or two, she will grow into the stock.

Also keep in mind legal overall length. Get it too short and you may be running into ATF trouble.

Good thing to consider and yes, 26" OAL is correct.
