    Default My Stolen Truck

    Near the end of 2012 my truck was stolen.. A couple of days later it was recovered completly trashed. The cops had an inkling that it was part of a larger scheme due to something they found with my truck. They swabbed my truck for DNA and since through many hoops I have had my truck some what restored through insurance.. I still paid a lot of money and lost huge money with the items that were in my truck.. I recently learned of a similar theft that took place soon after. Same truck basically, same entry, start, scars, mud. Both thefts occurred really close. I have always believed there was three people that stole my truck due to the filth that were on the door handles and the theft after mine three people were arrested.. Also both vehicles were dumped 25 miles from where they were stolen within blocks...

    I wondering if there will be an interest by the cops, attourneys etc.. or will this be something I will need to drive on my own? I hopefully will be in contact with the other guy whom I've learned of through truck forums.. He indicated there were items in his truck that appeared stolen.. random.. I'm hoping I can prove I owned them.. pictures, serial number etc.. Thoughts??

    Excuse spelling grammer.. phone way to small for my thumbs..

    Did you get a card from the officer handling your case? I would call him and mention it. They very likely might already know but it wouldn't hurt to remind them. I have to think though that once your truck was recovered the case was closed.

    I have left a message... Most of what was stolen was a lifetime of fishing equipment... All high end and family momentos... All of which I liked using close to 200 times a year after work and on weekends.. I would love to fuck up whom ever took my shit..

    Would not do anything differently.. I used the crap out of what I had and for the momentos I lost, those who handed them down to me were proud that I got good use out of them and caught a crap load of bass..

    my buddy had the same thing happen to him also...2009ish nissan titan. Jacked it, then stole a bunch of crap including the seats and left it to die. I can pm you the details if you want. He lived in aurora at the time of it happening.

    I guess I Dont quite understand what you are asking about? Whether you should tell the cops this appears to be an ongoing auto theft ring?
    Hopefully some of the stolen stuff ends up being yours. Sorry to hear about the truck and stolen stuff. Thieves are the worst.

    Thanks.. What I am trying to ask or figure out is;

    There are hundreds of vehicles stolen every month in this state. There are really only a couple of possibilities here.. Either LE is on top of this thing and I just have not been told yet.. They did not attempt a DNA match.. Not the same people.. Not on their radar unless I put it on their radar because what is the incentive? They already caught them. Finally, is it just my responcibility by obtaining council?

    Call the police when your truck gets stolen, if they happen to see it while they're out driving around issuing tickets they'll let you know.

    Expecting them to put 2 and 2 together and maybe go out and catch someone is asking too much.

    No, I understood that, I'm just trying to say that you contacting them and trying to get them to tie the two crimes together, and actually do some detective work and go make an arrest is a waste of time. Unless you can prove 100% who stole it, drive to the police station, grab the cop by the hand and lead him directly to that person it'll be too much work for them.
