PRIORITIES. it was discussed how to deal with pets / cats (IIRC) when you need to get out now. Hey they're part of the family, but realistically, you gonna spend 10+ MINUTES looking for your cat or get everyone to safety? Only you can make that choice, Me, good by side of beef, hello safe area.

No one can prepare for any "disaster" natural or man made. BUT, if you have the basics to get you to Plan B you're better off then 40-60% of everyone else.
Until it's time to GO we're staying put. If and when the GO signal is up what ever is in the trucks and trailers is coming along.
Jim, for the most part you are always full of really good information, but seriously...what is up with this post? I didn't post the same stuff I always post; I instead posted my latest thing I am thinking about. I have spent more time preparing for a major event then if I was forced to leave the house a week without power so my latest evacuation notice got me thinking about a few more things. Powering my freezer may certainly not be the most pressing need, but would really suck to lose. if I am in a situation where I need to smoke meet, I have a smoker and a dedicated cord of hard wood for that purpose. If my son needs to leave and I am not here, there is a contingency plan in place with the neighbors and so on. In terms of priorities, I have the big ones addressed; it is the smaller ones that I am looking at now.
