Default The BEST Dog You EVER had.

So awhile back I put up my post where I was looking for a new dog for the family. And as you all know it turned into a big debate about dogs from the Pound or Humane Society being either the best or worst dogs. So with that said what was the best dog you ever had. Breed, where you got him or how he was the better then any other dog you've ever had? I will start My best dog is a chocolate lab mix and he is loyal super friendly and is always happy to see me even when I'm in a bad mood and he's the best trained dog I've had.(trained myself) . I got him from the Human Society when he was 2 months old.

My current 10 year old GSD/Akita mix, Bear (yeah, cliche name, but my brother was the one that named him, at age 15) we got from some Puppy Rescue place about 10 years back. He's the most laid back, friendly, yet protective dog (seriously, he loves girls, not a big fan of guys he doesn't know). Plus he's loyal, and epitomizes "man's best friend." Always good to make my bad days seem much much better. The new vet we took him to said he seems like a 7 year old, not a 10 year old.

    My current buddy Wisco.
    Pure bred Saint.
I got him 6 yrs ago from a shelter in Kansas. He was beat to shit!! Seriously. His pervious owner got a year for animal cruelty. D-bag.
He is an awesome family dog and has become protective of our kids since they were born.
Will no doubt own another Saint!!

My god parents had a Saint while I was growing up- the biggest cuddler ever! I love saints, I think it's impossible for them to be bad dogs- Cujo should have been a poodle, not a saint.

The best dog I ever had was my boxer, Mollie, that I got at the Dumb Friends League. She was extremely intelligent, very friendly with people (when she knew it was OK based on our family members reaction to them), would put herself in the way of anything she thought could be a threat to any of her family, and always was my shadow. We had to make the very tough decision to put her down when she developed health issues later in life. It was like she knew it was time and she let us know by wanting to sleep in the closet or corner of a room away from anyone - she was always by one of us at all times before this. Toughest damn decision I ever had to make; cried like a baby that day, and I still tear up when I start thinking about her (as does my wife who I thought was going to kill me the day I brought Mollie home). I've had dogs all my life, and she is the one that I'd pick if I had to choose only ever having only one of any of them.

My son thought she should have his Bronco's hat on since she was intently watching the game...

That's Tyson. We got him 4 years ago from the Boulder Humane Society. He's super protective of my kid and wife, keeps his mouth shut unless someone rubs him the wrong way.

He's the first pet that I've had that I can't imagine losing.

This is Layla, she is yellow lab / Australian cattle dog. Best dog ever. Just a sweet as can be, quiet, yet the most protective dog that I have ever seen. Every time I come home she is ecstatic to see me and is just the most fun loving dog I have ever known. We have had dogs all my life and none were as naturally well behaved and good hearted as she is.
