My wife and I took Harry (our Rottie) to the dog park at Chatfield Reservoir today to meet another dog we are considering adopting. We left his harness and 20' lead on a fence post near the entrance, like everyone does at every dog park we go to. When we got back, someone had stolen his harness and lead.![]()
The harness was custom made, long ago for my mantrailing bloodhound (Cletis). Now, Harry wears it as his restraint system when riding in the back of my truck. Some of you have seen the custom cage that Mtn.man made me.
When I called the park to report it missing (slim chance it was turned in, but figured I'd try), the park employee "Michelle" felt like she had to lecture me instead of try to help. She actually said "before I take that information, I need to ask you why you would leave it there". You mean, like everyone else does at a dog park? Next to the dozen other leashes on the fence? She basically told me the she didn't want to take a report, because it was my fault it was stolen. She was a pompous, self righteous snatch. Really didn't help my mood.
Anyway, I can't find a commercially available harness that I trust to keep Harry safe, so I think I'll try to buy an industrial sewing maching and make him one. Anybody here know anything about industrial / heavy duty sewing machines?
I hate thieves.
