Can you find this somewhere? Not disagreeing with you, I just looked for the specific wording and could not find anything on the ATF website either way. I would like to know for sure, because I have always thought that an AR lower assembled and sold as a rifle could not be turned into a pistol even with a complete parts build as a legal pistol. But I just can not find anything that supports that anywhere either way.

I can vouch for this, having read it myself at the time. ATF released some rulings or something like that in 2010 or 2011 clarifying what could be done with a pistol or a rifle.

Originally manufactured as a pistol? Can go to a rifle configuration and back to being a pistol again
Originally manufactured as a rifle? Cannot become a pistol, only an SBR.

Check the FFL newsletter, open letters to FFLs, and ATF Circulars and rulings in the google.

Nor after you turn it into a rifle, you can not take it back to a pistol.

Humm: Just read the post above, not sure he is correct. However I have no document, nor am i going to look it up to find out. I believe I have really confused the situation... lol

You guys (except spqrzilla, of course) are lazy and uninformed, and your search-fu partakes of the weakest of sauces... ATF ruling 2011-4

2nd to last part of the ruling (pistols)
Held further, a firearm, as defined by 26 U.S.C. 5845(a)(3) and (a)(4), is not made when a pistol is attached to a part or parts designed to convert the pistol into a rifle with a barrel of 16 inches or more in length, and the parts are later unassembled in a configuration not regulated under the NFA (e.g., as a pistol).

Hk has somethimg planned... A friend of mine met with the big wigs (he makes custom rifle's), and is involved with what they have planned. He won't tell me what it is though..... bastard.....

Also, just to add once more, you can make a pistol into a rifle, and then convert it back to a pistol, however you cannot convert a rifle to a pistol without paperwork.

That's probably the craziest thing about cops ever posted on this site. H&K hates its police customers every bit as much.
