I have an Inland M1 carbine that has a poor bore. All looks good except the last couple inches, which is pitted/dark/worn. Weird thing is that it goes from good to bad in a distinct ring around the bore about 1 1/2" to 2" down. The crown does not look sharp. Can I have the barrel counterbored? It is not very accurate. Had a hard time hitting paper at 50 yds. I could try one of the do-it-yourself recrowning and see if that improves accuracy. I was looking at a new criterion barrel. Are there any smiths in Denver area that have the tools and expertise to either counterbore or replace barrel/headspace? Would prefer to keep the existing USGI barrel. Thanks.
