Personal attacks on a sympathetic figure like Gabby will not win friends or change minds. For us 2A supporters, we know how she is being used and manipulated by the political class on the left. However, if we are going to bring more people to our side and win the long-term battle then we need to elevate our game and stay focused on the principles of freedom, liberty and Self government. The personal attacks make us look small, angry and heartless. Truth is, 2A supporters are the opposite and it benefits us to recognize her physical suffering at the hand of an armed lunatic and work to ensure the acts of a tiny and literally crazy minority do not jeopardize the 2A for us all.

We all agree that Gabby is wrong. JVC is on target. Let me tell you... Both sides feel the same about each other "Unfortunately the anti gun left does not understand logic or facts". I think that it may be worth it to read many of the comments on this thread and look at them from the other side. Again, I don't agree with anything Gabby (and her husband) are doing. It pissed me off that somebody from out of state was allowed to talk and get all the publicity while NONE of us even got our 3 min to be ignored at the so called 'public' hearings. I also think that many of our statements in this thread and others could be used "out of context" to construe us all as very insensitive. This whole thing reeks of using a human shield and the sad fact is we lose either way if we are not smart in our approach.

We must become more effective at persuasion, if we are going to gain ground on 2A and roll back laws that are not only ineffective, but actually dangerous. I do not have all the answers, but I do know that to convince and persuade we need to find new messages that connect with enough people who are still centrists on the issue. Some messages that come to mind are (a) self-defense (men and women of all political parties should have this right), (b) how can you trust this government with guns if you can not trust it with the financial markets, wars of empire and spying on citizens?, and (c) all mass shootings have crazy people in common - how can we get to them before they act on murderous compulsions?

Giffords, OTOH, has about as much control as where she goes and how she's posed as does my 10-month-old daughter. I honestly don't think that she has Clue One about what's being done in her name.

Mark Kelly, on the other hand, is a vile human being, who knows exactly what he is doing, and he can and should fatally choke on an entire burlap sack of detached male genitalia.

I've heard Giffords speak several times, and don't believe she is really aware of how she is being used. She didn't speak the quotes being attributed to her, at least I don't think so. Her husband is a sympathetic anti, and is willing to have her used as the national symbol of the anti-gun movement. He is a genuine piece of crap.

I have no respect or sympathy for someone who stands on a podium with their victim card held high, wearing their victim title on their sleeve and calling for MY rights to defend myself and my family to be restricted or "reasonably" altered. They have no right to decide for me what I do and do not need. If they do not wish to utilize the means to defend themselves that is their decision, however, when they decide to make decisions on my behalf, without my input or consent they have crossed a line. When they exert pressure and money toward law makers to restrict inalienable and inherent rights that go against the Constitution and the very ideals this nation was founded upon, they no longer are deserving of being treated as good or decent human beings. I regard people like this in the same way as those who would enable or allow tyrants like Pol Pot, Hitler, and Stalin to do the things they did, or even in the same regard as those tyrants. So no, Mark Kelly and those who buy into his bullshit- and if she knows what's going on and agrees with it (we may never know for sure), Gabby too- can go straight to hell and/or play in traffic for all I care.
