Default CHARITY REQUEST / CHILDRENS WINTER CLOTHES

DISCLAIMER: APPROVAL WAS GRANTED BY THE MODS, many thanks

    ALL,

I am involved with a charity / our prayer group that has done a lot of work, over the years, with people on the Porcupine reservation in south dakota. This year we've received request to assist with children's winter clothing. Usually they ask for help with heating, money. A lot of kids came down with pneumonia and other serious colds, so the focus has shifted to cloth as many kids in warm / foul weather gear as possible.
While the school buses are heated there is no place for the kids to wait in any shelters. They stand outside waiting for a somewhat lax( Indian Time) scheduled bus.

I'm calling it : SHOES FOR THE SIOUX..

My goal is to acquire 100 pairs of boots and or water proof winter shoes. Winter jackets scarves, hats etc.
We do not want or are asking for money, and will not accept it. gift cards to be exchanged for clothes sure, MONEY no.
If anyone has winter gear their kids have out grown, were thinking of donating to the salvation army, or other charity. IF you wouldn't mind saving them for us instead.

This gear will be for school age kids, elementary and middle school a priority.

We do not plan on going up to the rez till the second week of Oct.

This is not a WE NEED IT NOW REQUEST . Figured asking for assistance now it gives those of you time to rummage through you kids clothes, to put them aside as time allows. Besides what you don't have now, may be no longer needed (OUTGROWN) in the next month. Cause we all know kids never have SUDDEN GROWTH SPURTS.

I would like to meet anyone who does assist from the metro area in 1 centralized location. I could be there the 28th of september.
IF you have something that cannot be collecting dust, or taking up space now, pm me and lets see what we can do. However running back and forth here and there logistic wise, can be difficult.

AGAIN Woplia (Lakota for thanks) to the mods for allowing this thread and to you guys and gals

    SEPTEMBER UPDATE

I will be at the sportsmans warehouse parking lot (east side) 84th & 25, SATURDAY THE 28TH. If that does not work for the majority of folks who contacted me i can do the 29th (Sunday) prefer the am. This will be the big push, before the mid october, Run to the REZ.

Warm socks AND if possible dry shoes, boots, over boots (Totes) or as we use to call them galoshes, would be nice. Goodwill, Salvation Army and other thrift stores stock them. The wife and i have had very good luck at garage sales.

ANYWAY, BTT for those who have items staged for pickup.

PM me if that weekend does not work for you.

I can help with smaller sizes if that's of any value. My little one is 5 and has a closet full of winter stuff she wore once.
