    Default BGC ID question?

Does the ID used for a background check need to have your current address? I recently moved so my DL does not show my new address.

Something from the gov has to show your current address. I didn't change my DL for a while after I moved but I was able to use my vehicle registration with my DL to purchase a firearm.

Just write your new address on the back of the license. There is a space for it and that's how the DMV handles address change until your next renewal.

For CCW you have to have something showing your current address - like vehicle registration. I've never been asked when buying a firearm about it being the correct address.

You need a primary ID with a photo on it, CO ID or CO DL or Active Duty military with current orders. If the address isn't correct on the front, write it on the back with a sharpie and make sure you update it with the state before the BGC. If you need a secondary ID, it has to be issued from the state but doesn't have to have a photo, CO Vehicle Registration is the most common. In a pinch, go get a CO fishing license and make sure they update your address on it. It will work too.

When I did a transfer, the FFL asked if the address on my DL was current. It was at the time so not sure what would have been the result if it wasn't. My vehicle registration won't have the current address either.

If the address you list on your 4473 isn't what it says on your ID, CBI may kick it back for a correction. I always check the address on the form and the ID, and ask if the one on the form is correct if it doesn't match the address on the ID.

While you need a current address, just to update with the DMV you can do that online so the state electronic records are up to date.
