Wish I could say I am shocked but I would expect nothing less. My buddies kid just got expeled because him and his freind made swords out of rulers and had a mock sword fight.

Good damn thing I am not in school or I would be in the super max in Florance.

I still don't understand how they can justify in their own minds the action in which they are taking. They have said that they have no choice but to expend her and possibly expel her for bringing what they have deemed as close enough to think it real. They say the state law leaves no discretion in this matter. The motor vehicle law also do not state that an officer has the discretion to write you a ticket for speeding, but no one complains if he lets you go with a warning. I guess my question is what makes them judge, jury, and executioner on a criminal matter when the law itself gave her back the so called weapons and told her not to bring them back to school. So if she committed no crime, how can they legally keep her from going to school?
PS I believe there are 4 other schools in the Denver area that still have a junior military honor guard that carry rifles during school functions and practice drills. Does anyone feel threatened by these kids carrying on an American tradition? Sorry, this is just still a really big thorn in my side.

I dunno folks, if she had used a hairpin to go along with the wood, plastic and duct tape she would have had the equivalent of a full fledged McGuyver security-squad-eliminating improvised pencil-shooting firearm.

Let's not kid ourselves. This girl is an absolute danger to herself and society as a whole. Who knows, she could have dropped this thing on her foot while twirling it and broken a toe.

Well I guess bringing a fake drill rifle onto the grounds of a Cherry Creek school is like bringing pork and beans to a bar mitzvah.

This bureaucratic Cherry Creek arsewipe or her predecessor very likely played a pivotal role in formulating such a stupid policy and lobbying for the statute at the statehouse. Prosecutors exercise discretion all the time. But not educrats.

It takes a special kind of delusional or diabolical mind to come up with such an inflexible and unbending hoplophobic zero tolerance policy as this. But when the academician's stupidity is laid bare for all to see, they cop out and point to the policy or statute and say "See, we can't think! We're not allowed to have discretion." as if it sprung forth from whole cloth without their complicity.

I think in actuality such intolerance is purposeful and deliberate. It is an authoritarian lesson of submissiveness to the will of the state. A subliminal proposition to imprint a message on the school's progeny that all weapons not in the possession of the state are evil. This lesson teaches that ignorance of their use and smug intolerance of their existence in the hands of the individual is not only acceptable, but is rational, normal and comfortable. It is the authoritarian state that will protect you sweet children. Go forth with your comfortable biases.

I hope somebody sues this school district and takes them to the cleaners.

    Sorry for the rant.
