This chokes me up every time I watch it. It's always worthy of a repost.

I retired after 20 years of service, but what I think about when I watch this is my father-in-law who served in WWII. While serving far fewer years than I did, in his service he saw and experienced things so horrible he won't talk about it. I do know that he saw his best friend shot in the head and killed while standing right next to him. He was captured by the Germans in the very last days of the war in Europe and after being repatriated, because he was still in such good shape, he was taken to a Nazi Concentration Camp to free the Jews. He fought for his wife. He fought for his daughter. He fought for me!
