Any experts on whole house water filtration systems?

Need to get one put in pretty soon.
We have a well, and can't seem to shock the bacteria out of it.
Would like to get something with a sediment and UV filter all in one unit.
I have tried to research online, but am getting nowhere.
Any opinions, ideas, installers, anything?

If the smell doesn't bother you for taking showers you could always get a RO system for under the kitchen sink.

Have you tested for other contaminants that are commonly associated with bacteria? I'm thinking nitrates, which can often be found with bacteria. If you need to treat for both it may impact the type of system you would need. For nitrates I have used, with success, an RO unit for drinking water. RO units tend to have a lot of wastewater associated with them and are not always practical for whole house applications, especially if you are on a septic system.

ETA: It might be helpful to know if the bacteria is total coliform or fecal coliform, or something else.

Bacteria is total coliform. It tested positive once for e-coli too, but has only tested positive for coliform since my multiple shock treatments.
Not interested in RO, it wouldn't do what I need, nor would it be practical for a well and septic on the top of a mountain.

Ive looked at those. Seem really inexpensive compared to a lot of the rest.

I use something like this but with out the UV as I'm on city water. The filters are cheap and easy to find. For your sediment, I saw a clear bowl that is inline and the sand falls out sorta like a diesel filter. You unscrew it and dump the sand out.http://www.freshwatersystems.com/s-1...FTFgQgodq20AOQ If you don't use something like that, the Big filter clog up quick. Lots of independant sellers out there, and it can be had cheap. Just stay away from propriatarty bits.
