Have you tested for other contaminants that are commonly associated with bacteria? I'm thinking nitrates, which can often be found with bacteria. If you need to treat for both it may impact the type of system you would need. For nitrates I have used, with success, an RO unit for drinking water. RO units tend to have a lot of wastewater associated with them and are not always practical for whole house applications, especially if you are on a septic system.
ETA: It might be helpful to know if the bacteria is total coliform or fecal coliform, or something else.
