What, you just take a spoonful of coconut oil? Like taking cough syrup?

Yes, except it is a solid at room temperature. Let a spoonful of coconut oil melt in your mouth, then swallow it. That is my breakfast.

I don't think it tastes so bad as cough syrup. There is a little coconut taste at the end. Two people at work swear it is disgusting stuff. I'm just thrilled to see fat melting off of me. From 239 to 232 in the first week. Looking for 205, or less.

Wow, that's bizarre - where did you hear about that? Awesome if it works, sure isn't something I'd think of on my own.

I noticed a friend at work had slimmed up considerably this year. He always had strange eating habits in my opinion. He has been vegan, vegetarian, paleo, etc. All of the sudden, this guy is eating meats and real food. I had to ask. When he told me coconut oil, I was skeptical.

Read a great book (under $10 on Amazon) and decided to try it.

The whole goal of Keto is to up your intake of healthy fats, of which Coconut oil is a prime example.

Once you are in ketosis, a serving of healthy fats will keep your body running for hours, because your body is now using fat as the fuel instead of sugars and carbs.

This article is aimed at cancer, but the information about Keto is very good, and is where I started: https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/keto...-cancer-cells/

I feel almost out of place in this thread with most everyone talking about losing 30ish pounds. My goal is to lose 120 pounds. My single biggest problem has been sugar for as long as I can remember, to the point of knowing that I am truly addicted to it.

Keto has been surprisingly easy in the regard of staying out of sugar, which is absolutely wonderful for me. The use of stevia helps dramatically, because I get the sweet taste, without the negative effects of sugar, especially for my pancreas since I went through a really severe round of Pancreatitis (caused by gall stones) 2 years ago.

There is hope though... In the 5-6 days I have been doing this, I am down 12 pounds already. I know it's going to slow down, but this diet change is something that I can stick with for the rest of my life, and not feel like I'm missing out. I'm excited for the change, since I am already pretty active, but it will only be better when I am back down to the 200lbs mark. My summers of wakeboarding and winters of snowboarding will be far more enjoyable, and climbing towers for work will be a lot easier without an extra 120 pounds of my fat a$$ to lug around!

Don't recall if I told the story here or not, so if I did I apologize.

About a month into Keto, I was on a cheat day, and someone had made a from scratch cake, so I indulged, the side effects were truly staggering, THE worst crash I've ever experienced, paired with terrible headache and nausea. That was the day I realized how bad that crap was for me. I might take in 15-20 grams of sugar a day now, and my energy is amazing (even on 5-6 hours of sleep).

Good for you! I lost 140, but it took gastric bypass to do so. Sorry to say that 40 has crawled back on, but a solid 100 is still gone. I've started working on chasing off that 40 now, and some extra to boot. I think this keto thing is a good idear, plus I've started a nutrition program called Thrive.

Something for you to do - you want to lose 120? Go to Home Depot and lift up two 60lb bags of sand or concrete mix. Realize that's how much blubber you're packing around, and what that's doing to your knees, feet, back, etc. Gives ya something to think about.....

I can kinda relate. After my gastric bypass, I can't digest sugar like I used to. They advise against it. I can still consume it in small amounts, but something like birthday cake just tears me up! I think the type matters too. Seems like anything made with confectioners sugar affects me the most. And alcohol? Nope, that stuff really jacks with me now.
