    I tried to make 2 points ...

    1) Maybe it's not a bad idea to see how AJ is representing the News
    2) I have to buy too many "CRAP" channels just to get the ones I want; I'll just not watch any channels (AJ) that I don't like.

I didn't even consider having AJ vs not having something else (i.e the Blaze) as a "political statement/stance/position".
I figured it was mostly a "business" thing to attract more viewers...and $$$.
Thanks for pointing that out to me ...

I'm actually working the night of the fight. VP wants 6 people staffing the desk during the fight in case of software issues. We don't even have 6 people staffed on a weekday.

Ok off the discussion of AJ and back to the service.

Dish was installed this morning, one Hopper and two Joeys. First off they gave me a 8-12 window and at 7:56 the truck pulled in, great service. The tech installed in 3 hours or so and that included waiting for another truck with a 40' ladder to get on roof. Great guy and great work.

I was with Comcast for 10 years and had the same damn DVR the entire time. Old Moto unit, dated interface but it did want it needed to. I had one analog box in a spare bedroom and nothing on the downstairs tv.

I was initially cracked to discover my the dish remote is RF and couldnt use my Harmony. The idea of using two remotes almost had me rethinking but I remained calm and Googled on. After some searching and tweaks I'm pleased to report the remote controls the Hopper. I still need to configure some of the special functions but so far so good.

So first The Hopper itself. The interface it slick. The guide and menus are much nicer looking, it feels kinda like app boxes on ipad. I used to sell sat systems way back in the day at Circuit City and I remember the interface and channel surfing being painfully slow. Im happy to report that I can flip as fast as I could with cable.

Picture quality is as good, if not better than cable.

The SlingBox feature is very cool. I was able to watch TV on my iPad with no more than a few clicks and account number. I see this being a big plus.

After so long with Comcast learning new channel numbers and postions is driving me mad. Mrs Rooskibar has cussed at me several times already. I haven't recorded anything yet so I cannot speak to the DVR function, but I was able to fumble through the guide and find some series I record.

The search feature leaves something to be desired. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but its clumsy.

Now the downside. I guess I miss understood the way the system works (which I should have remembered from when I sold these) with regards to the tuners. With cable I had two tuners, I could record two shows at once, and watch one or the other, or record one and flip around on the other.

So Dish has 3 tuners, very cool. But I neglected to understand those tuners are for all devices. So lets say I'm recording two shows on the Hopper and watching a 3rd, no one can watch something different on one of the Joeys. I also found that if one (or both) of the Joeys are left on the Hopper alerts you the other tuners are on before you can change channel or record something.

There are only 3 of use in the house so I don't think it will be a issue once we learn how to work the system. I guess I was expecting more, my bad.

Overall I'm pleased for now. I've only been home a few hours and between setting up my Harmony and putting the entertainment systems back together I'm just sitting down to play.

Ill report back as I explore more.

So the joeys use tuners from the hopper? They are not independent boxes linked to the hopper?

Correct. It's basically a slave unit.

Its a Harmony One. I had to set it up as a digital set top device, Dish TV, Hopper. I also had to go into the menu on the Hopper and tell it to accept IR as well as RF.

Im still trying to get a few specail function buttons to work. The trouble is the hopper remote doesn't send IR so I can't use it to teach the Harmony new functions. I can get into everything through the menu, it just takes a few extra steps.

Anyone else here start reading Rooskibar03's post in a Boston accent after he mentioned the hopper?

If you want the aspect function (* button on the left side of 0 on the dish remote) once your in myharmony where you can assign/edit the bottons (remote on one side and a list of functions on the right) there's a aspect function listed you just have to drag it over to the correct button. And you will want to know where this is cause someone always sits on the remote or accidentally pushes it and can't figure out how to take it out of zoom mode. Took me a few to find that as it's a RF function on the dish remote so couldn't do the whole hold the remotes back to back and press the button thing. I want to say everything else programmed in fine for mine, just had to use my TV remote to add the volume up and down.
