I have a question for you though, and feel free to decline to answer if you prefer. Based on what you've just had to deal with, would you have handled it differently if you had your gun with you? Do you think the end result was the same as it would have been, had you had it (bad guy goes to jail)?
Glad you're ok man. As much as I'd be interested as well, I would recommend not answering this or going into too much detail about the event on a public forum until this is all settled and over.

Glad your OK Dave, and in a sense I am glad you were not carrying! I only say this because you came out ok, otherwise I would have been wishing you were! You saved yourself some drama by not having to go through a shoot. Try to look to the good side of things brother!

Now in hind site; do you wish you had been carrying?

Good man! This is one of the reasons, I train in other areas; jiu-jitsu, boxing, different scenario's. Sometime you can't always go for the gun, and it should be the last resort anyway......

Agreed. If there's any kind of ongoing investigation, then please do not answer. I'm just hoping for real firsthand experience that might help enlighten folks about how having a firearm may have resolved this differently, be it that the perp just sat down and shut up until the cops arrived, etc. Obviously, if it was not necessary to use, you still would not have used it, but I can't help but wonder if you would have been able to avoid any of the injuries inflicted.

I didn't read all the newest posts before my last reply, so I'm sorry for the redundancy. Thank you for this insight. I have often considered not using mine when brainstorming similar scenarios as to yours and continue to train with pain compliance and joint manipulation, ie. mostly non-striking contact. I just hope I am able to control the situation quickly and peaceably.

Wow, this sounds nearly as bad as the flat tire I had this morning. I almost got my pants dirty!

    Heal up!
