Ran across this first hand account of economic collapse. SHTF in Argentina 2001:

    We're dangerously close to it.

    I also read this:

It's an epic failure of what was a first world nation. The US is trying hard to replicate what happened in Argentina. Our economic policy and elective leadership choices have sold us all down that path. From where I sit, I don't see any way out.

That's because there isn't any way out now. Too many people in this nation are happy to wear their blinders and buy into the "we're with the government; we're here to help!". Sadly these folks are voting the dangerous politicians into/back into office.

I really hate to be a doom-sayer, but the best we can hope for is to be prepared if/when SHTF. I haven't read the links above yet, but the one item that is constantly left out of SHTF Supply Lists is toilet paper - don't forget to stock up on this essential item.

The energy industry could help if we would drill and spend our oil money here. Build nuclear energy plants couldn't hurt either
