If you really want to spend money on an ad.. I would encourage those gun owners in NY that they also have hope, and we are fighting in CO not only for ourselves etc... just mho.

Full page ads in the New York Times cost money. Lots of money. They will also be proof'd by someone and more likely to kick it back. I'm sure the NYT likes money these days but I'm still skeptical about this panning out even if we raised the money for a full-page add.
I like this idea. I like the approach of giving the people of NY some encouragement through our success as a state against tyrannical laws. This approach is much less nanny nanny boo boo but still conveys the same message underneath the call to action by another group of oppressed people who might side with our cause.

I am done with polite and sportsman's like.
Democrats play dirty all the time, lie, cheat, you name it.
So, if we get the chance to have, FOR ONCE, some cheap entertainment and satisfaction, I say let's do it.
Count me in for $25.
As far as what to write, let's see first how much we can put together.
I'd love to buy a page...

This is my thought too. People keep talking about making our voice known and rising up against the tyrannical powers that be but a small posting in the New York Times is too rogue? Dafuq? No wonder our rights are being eroded. Heaven forbid we take an out loud stand for our rights once in a while. Maybe what we need is MORE stuff like this. Obviously being the 'silent majority' isn't getting us anywhere but compromise at best and outright made into outlaws for constitutional freedoms at worst. Maybe it's time we took the opportunities to make our voices heard and gain some momentum for the next movement to regain rights rather than sit idly by quietly waiting for the next attack on our rights. Eff that! WE need to be the aggressors. WE need to be on the offensive. WE need to be the men that our country was founded by. I want something to spark our 'group' into a bit of a fervor to have better turnouts at elections. To have more of a voice when bills are introduced. We need to stop being quiet pussies who are taken what is given us with a smile while quietly planning how we'll spend the next two years planning an attempt to get back a small portion of what was lost. This defeatist mentality has got us NOWHERE and it should be painfully obvious to everyone by now. We need to strike while the iron is hot and unless you have a better idea this is a way to strike now.
Just my 7 cents adjusted for inflation.

The idea was to run a full page ad so people would see it though.
"There are no finger prints under water."
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?
-- Ayn Rand, Anthem (Chapter 11)
I don't recall saying it wasn't possible. So far I've got not even enough money pledged for the tiny 4-line ad though so if people want a full page ad they'll have to put their money where their mouth is. I'll type up whatever we want and place the ad but it's going to be expensive to take out a pull page in the NYT. I know 'Full page ad in the NYT' is a catchy thing to say but it also comes at a price. We're not talking about 'hundreds' of dollars anymore.

I posted before reading everything. I'm torn between my original idea and Chunky's idea. Even a small ad would get attention if there is a picture of a black rifle. Not to mention that I think ads might have more placement options within the paper. Most importantly, THANK YOU, for taking the initiative to run with this idea.
