    Don't give the info like the collar out, make the owner identify it. Douche bags make money by selling lost dogs.

    Good for you for finding, and trying to do the right thing. Good looking dog, too.

    I've done this several times. In my case it is almost always dumbass neighbors who think their dogs are so well behaved off-leash.
    I was taking them to the local PD, and now I don't even do that anymore.

    Typically, they just facilitate getting them to a shelter, which you could do as well.
    In my case, our shelter is awesome, but 5x as far and way more pain than just having a cop just come out.

    But you do think they are keeping busy putting dogs down every year. Interesting.
