Don't give the info like the collar out, make the owner identify it. Douche bags make money by selling lost dogs.

A classmate found this dog in Fort Collins off of W. Elizabeth and Glenmoor. the dog is a dark golden retriever and has a leather collar studded with "12 gauge" metal circles. There are no tags. Please let me know if this is your dog or if you know who he/she belongs to.

I've done this several times. In my case it is almost always dumbass neighbors who think their dogs are so well behaved off-leash.
I was taking them to the local PD, and now I don't even do that anymore.

We're not talking about shooting in a house.
Typically, they just facilitate getting them to a shelter, which you could do as well.
In my case, our shelter is awesome, but 5x as far and way more pain than just having a cop just come out.

I just think most police don't have time or the desire to take care of a lost dog, so I won't bother.
