Crazy weather for sure! I'm just south of you right now in Franktown and the most we have had here today is a light to medium rain. All around us was/is being hammered! Go figure...

My family's cabin in Estes is fine but we were told that we would not have water or sewer till mid November.

It will take them at least that long to get some form of road structure in place.

Our cabin on the Middle St. Vrain Creek is 24' from the river bank. At flood stage the roar of the river is tremendous. At night, every few seconds I can hear and feel the thumping of boulders against rocks as they roll down stream. There's going to be some major displacement from this flood. Large trees have fallen across the river creating dams and diversions.

In the '69 flood, the St. Vrain below Camp Dick changed course to flow through older channels in the willows above the glacial moraine. The changed course, along with beaver activity formed many ponds full of brookies. Some of those ponds have now refilled with peat and silt, making them higher and restricting water flow. In a few days we should see if the river has changed course again to the rocky channels of the 1960's.

I have to wonder if this flooding in the mountain streams has stirred up and dislodged any hidden gold nuggets.....

Went to Hawaii on vacation. Just got a call from someone staying at my house in Parker - apparently the basement has now flooded. Don't know how bad.. Blah. Can't do anything about it until I get home later next week.
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

So I was standing in Home Depot tonight asking a guy about if I should buy a stud finder or not. He took a call and I kept hearing him telling the dude on the phone "No, we're totally out, the shelves are bare. Well there won't be any trucks coming in at night." He gets off the phone and I ask if the caller was asking for sump pumps. He says, "Yeah." I tell him, "Dude, you guys have about 200 of them right in the front of the store in front of the garden center." He says, "What really? No wonder they aren't on the shelves."
