There is basically a check list where each item needs to be checked off before a county can apply for aid. I'm assuming that each county that has not been declared a disaster zone has not met the requirements.

How many people are missing there? How much property damage is there? How many universities and medical centers are under water there?

You are literally taking a natural disaster, which has killed several people, hundreds more are missing, billions in property damage and probably a couple hundred thousand people who have lost their homes, and are making it into a bullshit partisan gun politic argument.

    ^^^ THIS

And I just had to write a $1420 check to get my driveway repaired... and busted my ass yesterday helping out... but I feel fortunate with what I see other parts of the state have had since Wed of last week.

The morning of 9/12 (this is the worst flooding):

On 9/13, after most of the flooding has subsided (except what is still flowing in the culvert):

If you think for a moment that the allocation of government resources during a crisis isn't heavily affected by politics unrelated to the disaster itself you're deluded.

That said, RIGHT NOW is probably not the time for that argument.

I have to agree. The reason for disaster declaration is to free up money and resources. Utah and Nebraska Urban Search and Rescue teams are here helping, they could not deploy without this. Colorado Task Force 1 deployed as a Type III State Activated and funded response until the declaration now they are a full Type I. Also only the Army National Guard can activate under the Gov, the Ft. Carson and 4th ID guys flying had to wait for the declaration.

Also I must say from what I have seen and heard this is an outstanding rescue operation. There are some truly amazing rescues taking place. Trust me I am not a fan of the government and some of the shit they do, but the military is the only resource that can pull this off, without them this would be so much worse.

IS-208 - State Emergency Management Course - Disaster Declarations A quick primer on Disaster Declarations.

Colorado Office of Emergency Management - Good source of info

Boulder is the only County with a Major Disaster Declaration - I would expect to see more Counties added to this list, the State as 30 days to apply.

Boulder, El Paso, and Larimer have Emergency Declarations - This is what free's up the funds for federal resources. This is part of the Stafford Act. The State has already added many more counties to this list.

And what do ya know Adams, Weld, and Larimer were added to the DR-4145-CO Major Disaster Declaration.

Also 12 more Counties were added to the Emergency Declaration.
