This is something near and dear to my heart. This is done every year by the good folks at Magic Foundation.

Do you or anybody you know have children that do not seem to be growing normally? It is time to get them checked by a good pediatric endocrinologist.


My short story.

At around 18 months my parents and doc started to realize something was wrong. I just was not growing. This was back in 1971. There was nothing doctors could do because of my age. Around the age of 5 I was tested and diagnosed with hypopituitary dwarfism. I started on a prescription of human growth hormone. Back then growth hormone was taken from human cadavers. In the early 80's human derived growth hormone was banned due to cases of CJD. I was then started on a test of a synthetic version until 1987.

Fast forward until today I recently was put back on growth hormone as it is now known that we still need it as an adult.

Ask me anything and I will answer to the best of my knowledge. Save the stupid midget jokes for another thread.

FYI not getting your child checked can lead to serious health problems in their future.

Bump for you.

I know from my short stint working in home infusion it is not an easy road with the HGH, especially in the last decade or so. Of course I don't mean clinically, I mean due to all the added regulations on it thanks to your Major League Baseball and other cheating athlete types. Unfair burden to those who genuinely need it. Sounds as though you've done pretty well, which is terrific!
