Default Off duty Denver Sheriff's Deputy pulls weapon...

Reading the article, one thing stands out: The officer had no cause to detain the subject, as having a gun in your car is not a crime.

Sources tell Fox31 Denver the deputy is Truman Aumiller, who is now under internal investigation by the department to see if he violated any rules.
“If it was an undercover police officer, they sure didn’t go about it the right way. He didn’t announce himself or anything like that,” Gallegos said.
Those sources say Aumiller told his superiors he thought he saw a gun in the victim’s car which is why he pulled a service weapon. The sheriff’s department confirms the deputy is now the subject of an internal affairs investigation.

The Cop is lucky he didnt get shot.
My EDC: Handcuffs, Bandana, and Ball Gag.

If I'm ever at a party and the cops come to arrest people. Ill blindfold myself, throw the ball gag in, handcuff my hands, and hide in a closet. Police never arrest hostages!

Not the cop, the guy he pulled the gun on is lucky. He's the one that was already in front of a muzzle.

So outside the IA thing, what would happen to a commoner if they tried this stunt?

Both I'd think. If a bystander happened to be carrying, seeing an apparent carjacking may have caused them to get involved too I'd think.

Possible. I'd hope a 911 call is more likely when the details are unknown.

Isn't Denver SO only jailers? This guy doesn't sound like he had any street experience.

Just one more reason I don't like going anywhere near Denver if I can avoid it.
