I volunteer to be in charge of foreign affairs, or the new dept of "lack of foreign problems" as it would be known after about 20 minutes.
I want that job. American foreign policy, you screw with us and we play cowboys and injuns with you as the injuns!!

The Democrats always define "bi-partisanship" as giving up any values you have and giving them exactly what they demand. They never return the favor. Screw 'em.

The House is the 'people's house'. They represent the people more than any other body in the Federal govt. Maybe the Senate and other branches might want to take note of what the people are saying about where their money goes.

    Nah, never gonna' happen.
Liberals never met a slippery slope they didn't grease.

I've got to admit that the left is Hella good at messaging. They've successfully assigned this shutdown to the "idealogues in the tea party who are holding the Republican Party hostage." The "republican shutdown"TM is all the fault of a group of people who can't accept that they lost this fight in all three branches of government.

It's all over the "news" networks, Twitter, Facebook, etc.. "Eff the republicans" coming from all sides.

It's all ted Cruz's idiot fault, from rep senator king.

They've got the daily show, Colbert report, CNN, HLN, BBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, and half of FOX (because they actually try to be balanced.

We've got what?...the blaze, half of fox, and a dozen right wing extreme cuckoo nut websites.

The message war was lost before it began, since ALL right wing media is discredited before a single word leaves their lips.

I'm sure any momentum the Republicans have gained is down the toilet, after the Dems twist this all around, and the left wing media machine delivers it that way.

-and in the age of twitter/facebook/Daily Show/etc., until the Right can get better at messaging, the Right is doomed. Old white guys droning on about gay marriage and abortion is a bit too yesteryear to dominate elections in the present day.

That message was lost months ago. The "radical tea part faction" has been holding the house hostage while pushing their agenda.

This one of the big reasons they really should not have let it get to this point. (R) is going to take all the blame for any downside.

edit, Popped on over to Economist and what is on the top of the front page?

    The shutdown
    Will voters punish the Republicans?
That is UK press saying the message battle is lost.

I fully understand how much you guys hate all of us but 3 combat vets were let go today in my shop. 2 of them are board members. Just a thought since it seems that many of you seem to think we all should just put a gun in our mouth and pull the trigger because of things we have no control over. Have a nice day.
I see you running, tell me what your running from

Nobody's coming, what ya do that was so wrong.

The government is shutdown, I wondered why I felt better when I woke up this morning.

    Q. What corporation keeps "non-essential" personnel employed?

    A. Not a one, corporations have a duty to the shareholders to improve the bottom line. When a person is deemed non-essential to the improvement of the bottom line they are released from employment. This is not true in government which has no bottom line, no budget, and no accountability to the shareholders (the net tax payor).

I'll bet my definition of "non-essential" is different from the government's definition.
    No doubt.

As I understand it the furloughed workers will get paid for their time off at a later date.
Oh, I bet they get paid, precedent was set decades ago. Since when does economic reality affect the operations of the federal government. They are inflating their running budget from air every month.
Fuck them all, shut the some bitch down, fire them all and we can start over with a few motherfuckers that know what's going on.

Folks getting paid by the government should be providing a benefit to the majority of people paying them. If we're paying you we should be doing it for our benefit. I don't consider tying red tape in neat bows or determining who to send tax money to a benefit. Thats the view I and many others have of gov employes, perhaps because we have little interaction and therefore see little benefit.
