    Default Pawn shop shenanigans

I visited a new-ish pawn shop in town for the first time today. Let me tell you, that was some enlightening conversation

    1. Decent selection, decent prices on firearms

    2. FN PS90 on the shelf, with 50rd magazine. He adamantly declares that there is no such law restricting magazine transfer. That the Dick act makes it invalid. His wife works for the atty general so he knows these things. He can order anything You like 30, 60,90 rd mags.

    3. He's a class 3 dealer. He can order you a suppressor, but not a silencer. A suppressor will reduce the report of a firearm by 53%, but a silencer will reduce the report by 97%. Btw the difference (and he shouldn't be telling me this) is to take a suppressor apart and stuff the baffles with steel wool.

I almost couldn't hold a straight face. I thanked him for his time and left when someone came in to pawn some shotgun shells.

I wonder if that would catch fire?

    Which town? Salida?

Oh, I forgot to mention that all of the new bullets coming out will be black powder. Not even the government likes this, so they purchased enough ammo for the next xx years including WWIII.

    Not Salida.

As a public service you should name names! Gotta love these kinds of discussions when you find them. My favorite was a guy saying he hated the "Countach" and would buy a "Lamborghini" before he would buy a "Countach".

BTW: I wonder what would happen with the steel wool, also? Not enough to try it with one of mine but still wonder. I can see it just blowing out, though more likely to hit a baffle I would think. Fire (as stated above) is also a good bet... Maybe weld a bunch of fibers to the baffles if it is not Ti built? Interesting experiment for the rich and stupid.

I once had a soldier working in a local gun shop tell me that the .50 BMG projectile would tear your arm off if it passed within 1 foot of it . This was a completely different shop in another state though.

I'd rather not name him publicly, since some of what he has said could get him into legal trouble if he isn't just blowing smoke and it's what he actually practices.

Chances are he'll get himself into trouble with the wrong person with the crap he's spewing.

Had a CPT once tell me that a .50 BMG round could cause an aneurysm if it passed within 6" of your head. I was a PV2 at the time so I kind of believed him then. Not sure about it now, but a bit more believable than tearing an arm off from a foot away. That shop owner needs to be careful that some off duty cop isn't in there listening in when he says stuff like that.

It certainly could. Steel wool and a battery are quite the effective fire starter.
