Couldn't see what the officer was doing, but as an officer I think I would have already drawn. That guy's body language was about as suspect as it gets.

Agreed. Not obeying directions and intentionally keeping his hands behind his back. Staring directly at the Trooper, closing his door, inching forward...at some point you just go from drawn to aimed. It just happens so fast.

It looked like he lost his magazine. Either an aborted mag change or just slipped on the mag release. After firing one more round while advancing down the passenger side of the Trooper's vehicle, he goes back and picks up the mag he dropped and reinserts it into the pistol before retreating to his vehicle and driving off. He probably didn't know he had been hit until he put the car in gear and pulled away.

No information on the page to indicate what was the deceased motivation. People do strange things.

Did anyone see the man who set himself on fire on the National Mall today. Apparently this afternoon, some man poured gasoline on his self and lit the fire. Park Police medivaced him, but no word on his condition.

I'm not a trained LEO and didn't stay in a Holiday Inn last night, but his body language and his hand behind his back would have me drawing down on him shortly after he exited the vehicle.

I think that officer showed quite a bit of restraint, I expected him to justifiably start shooting about three or four steps earlier.
