Agreed. Not obeying directions and intentionally keeping his hands behind his back. Staring directly at the Trooper, closing his door, inching forward...at some point you just go from drawn to aimed. It just happens so fast.
It looked like he lost his magazine. Either an aborted mag change or just slipped on the mag release. After firing one more round while advancing down the passenger side of the Trooper's vehicle, he goes back and picks up the mag he dropped and reinserts it into the pistol before retreating to his vehicle and driving off. He probably didn't know he had been hit until he put the car in gear and pulled away.
No information on the page to indicate what was the deceased motivation. People do strange things.
Did anyone see the man who set himself on fire on the National Mall today. Apparently this afternoon, some man poured gasoline on his self and lit the fire. Park Police medivaced him, but no word on his condition.

Not a cop but that looked pretty textbook to me. He got what he deserved. The only thing that could have gone better is if the cop had not been hit.

Fortunately, that was a once in a career event for a small percentage of police officers. Even when a traffic stop goes bad, it usually doesn't end up in a shooting situation. This video almost looked like a "shoot" "don't shoot" video out of a FATS machine. The deceased motorist could have just as easily come out with a cell phone in his hand when he was moving forward. If that had been the case, the only thing that would have saved the Trooper's career would have been the dash camera, which clearly shows the Trooper providing good verbal commands and the aggressive posture of the deceased.
All traffic stops are routine, until they aren't.
Be safe.
That was one of my first thoughts. What a weird situation.
I thought I saw at least one round from the officer hit the ground. One I suspect was the 2nd+ shot because as you all have mentioned above, I'm sure that officer had the sights dead on the BG before he advanced. I bet the first round from the officer was the money shot. But that's all guessing of course...
You guys are such right wing wackos....just think about the poor children, oh the horror...These 2 poor children in the car had to witness their dad being killed by an evil 5-O....
