I find it funny that not many people realized that RTD had an actual commissioned police department. It is very small and the majority of police activity you see on the rails & buses are contract cops (Denver, Aurora & Lakewood). Our fare enforcement/security team is run by Allied Barton now. Seems to be a much better company than G4S. During large events such as Rockies & Broncos games you will see RTD Transit Police on the platforms, often accompanying DHS agents. My role as a Public Safety Tech is monitoring cameras, video investigations, dispatching, answering phones, & other nonsense no one cares about. So...if you decide to be a dumbass on our property, me or one of my team members will be watching. Oh, and if you fall down our escalator at Market Street Station, we will be watching and laughing.

A patron who fell while trying to get on the escalators going up to the 16th Street Mall at Market Street Station. He had a bag of popcorn in his hand when he fell and when he went down, all you see is this massive "popcorn shower" coming down as the escalator took him for a ride. I laughed pretty damn hard on that one.

An assault like this is not news.. this shit happens every day.

the reason this had made news now is that DPD has no leads so they need help .
The reason is delay time frame. Needing public's assistance, when at least 1 board member says they have had contact with a few of the pictured before .
This is like the 16th street mall unrelated assaults. Until it went public the DPD was quiet.

Count me in the "why is this news?" category. This stuff happens ALL THE TIME. It is not news. Not sure why it caused such a kerfuffle on the local media sewage reports. Hell, they even got the DPD chief to mumble out some sort of apology... maybe the victim was a news producer's nephew or something.
