There isnt because we dont want you to know ;-). Its really just because its a small operation. Its like any metro commuter system though. RTD PD is only like six dudes. The backbone is the contracted security and off duty LEOs.

If you want to look into it, maybe try G4S and RTD. Transit Security. those type of things.

Thanks, the point of my earlier comment was neither in support or to oppose a transit PT, but at the time of my report, DC Metro Transit PD had approximately 750 Officers and they conducted all enforcement in two states and the District of Columbia.

I guess denver just isnt that big. or would rather let the individual agencies handle the bulk of calls. Either way, im still pissed it took so long to get the news out.

Not sure why everyone is "mad it took so long for the news to report"

An assault like this is not news.. this shit happens every day.

the reason this had made news now is that DPD has no leads so they need help .

I worked a mobile unit for a few months before they changed over to Allied Barton. 30th was a good place to hang out and observe because it was a problem area and it was close to some of the calls on Colfax for the drunks.

I am a Public Safety Tech for RTD Transit Police. The video you saw was me on the stick. Not sure why DPD took so long to release the video, but the night of the incident one suspect was arrested. I was told he lawyered up right away. I was actually on the phone with DPD Dispatch when I saw the incident start to unfold. Response time was almost immediate. Now people know why I don't frequent that part of town...any time of day.

Yep. Three of us in the RTD Transit Police Command Center are on the board here.

I find it funny that not many people realized that RTD had an actual commissioned police department. It is very small and the majority of police activity you see on the rails & buses are contract cops (Denver, Aurora & Lakewood). Our fare enforcement/security team is run by Allied Barton now. Seems to be a much better company than G4S. During large events such as Rockies & Broncos games you will see RTD Transit Police on the platforms, often accompanying DHS agents. My role as a Public Safety Tech is monitoring cameras, video investigations, dispatching, answering phones, & other nonsense no one cares about. So...if you decide to be a dumbass on our property, me or one of my team members will be watching. Oh, and if you fall down our escalator at Market Street Station, we will be watching and laughing.
