Default New developments in the Austin Sigg- Jessica Ridgeway case

Had a class today on Colorado Statutes: Children's Code from one of the Jefferson County Deputy District attorneys today, and he said that Austin Sigg was charged in a direct file (Juvenile charged as an adult) and has plead guilty to all charges. Jeffco DAs office anticipates a sentencing of life in prison (DOC) with the possibility for parole in 60 years- this fact is due to him being a juvenile at the time of the commission of the Class 1 Felony, as passed down by the SCOTUS in a previous determination on juvenile cases and the death penalty/life without parole issue. So good news, no contest he's confessed and plead guilty (no appellate possibilities) , bad news, if he survives his term in prison he stands the chance of release at 78... but he will never have the chance to ever live any semblance of a "normal" life.

Don't worry, even if he is granted parole by the parole board he will be classified as a sexually violent predator with lifetime supervision on parole.

Oh very true... again IF he even makes it that far. I'm hoping jailhouse justice will intervene before hand. And the silver lining to the whole "no death penalty for juvenile offenders"- some asshat governor with a (D) after his name can pass the execution off.

He will be locked away just like Joshua Carrier, the cop-child molester! And when you go looking at the DOC inmate locator system online it will say NO RECORD FOUND!

Glad to see he saved the justice system a lot of time and money by pleading guilty. However; I am disgusted that such a human being was ever brought into this world to commit such an evil act.

I at times have mixed feelings about the death penalty... I do not have mixed feelings about sticking these sicko's in solitary with a sturdy overhead pipe and a sheet. Let them take care of things themselves, Ariel Castro style...

Put him in general population 1 day after his 18th birthday. Things will sort themselves out soon enough.

Had it been my daughter he killed the dude wouldn't have made it out of the courtroom alive.

He'll be insane by the time he gets out. He'd have to spend the whole 60 years in protective custody (read: solitary confinement) to avoid an ox or screwdriver, and solitary usually drives people to a myriad of fun ailments like schizophrenia, psychosis, etc. within a year.

The odds of him ever harming a child again are virtually non-existent.

I would bet you are 100% spot on...but then again, I'd rather he get the "shank" in gen pop and not take any chances.
