*Looks up Nook* Huh, doesn't look half bad. I've been trying to justify getting a tablet and more or less failing, but with the Xbox One coming out, I'm really itching to get one. Most of the ones I've seen are in the $300 range, which for one or two things I'd do with it is too much. But $150 is much more reasonable.

I don't suppose you've tried the Battlefield 4 Commander mode on it have you? :P

I got the Kindle Fire for Christmas and think it's great. The new Kindle HDX is coming out this month and looks like it may be my next one.

I have the Fire HD 10" wonder what the HDX will offer, for the price point.

Is the charge cable better on the nook HD? I have a nook tablet and I'm on my 5th cable. And can I just drag and drop books on to an SD card without a computer? And how is the battery life and overall speed of the device?

Nook HD >>> Kindle Fire HD.

The charge cables on the Nook HD and HD+ have 30 pin cables like (but not exactly the same as) the old iPod cables. They don't use the extended microUSB tip anymore -- haven't had any problems with mine. However, the new Nooks use Android 4.0 and Android changed how they handle remote file systems -- it now treats the Nook HD or its SD card as a media drive rather than a regular external drive so I can no longer manage the Nook library natively with Calibre. Battery life is excellent, speed is much better than the Nook Tablet.
