I can pass on a bad shot or a shot of which I'm uncertain.... but if I buy a tag and get a chance, Imma kill it. Think of how clear the crosshairs would be on an albino. I guess I'm a jerk.

Don't make you a jerk, just a hunter. I can only speculate on "what I'd do", I've never had my sights on an animal. I like to think I'd be selective, but I might shoot the first thing I see. I seriously doubt it, but I haven't been there yet. Hope to someday.

While I can appreciate their tribal sensitivity it wouldn't keep me from harvesting a rare and exceptional game animal. I would grant the animal due respect in the scheme of life by eating the meat and having the hide prepared as a full life size mount. That way it would live on far beyond it's natural life. Might even donate it to a museum after a time.

I've encountered a number of albino, leucistic and schizochroic animals, and have caught a few. Awesomely beautiful but they are genetic aberrations, unlikely to survive into adulthood.

Here are a couple of mulie bucks near Meeker, CO. Which one would you put your sights on? I've already decided.

In some states, it is illegal to shoot albino deer and other big game. Even if it is legal, you must ask yourself a moral question of whether it is right or wrong. That is something you and only you can decide, and a huge part of our country seems to have a problem with these days. Myself, I would have passed on it. I would consider it a blessing to have laid eyes on it, and let it go. That is a true challenge, and harder than merely putting sights on a big white animal. Truth is however, a lot of albino animals do not fair well in the wild.

Now a white yote, I'd shoot it. No different to me than a white prairie dog. A white wolf - I'd probably hesitate.

Wisconsin it is illegal to shoot an albino deer that is 100% white. Now if it has a brown patch of hair on it somewhere, then it is fair game. In Iowa, if it mostly white, then it is off limits too. There are other states as well, but I am familiar with those two.
