Thread: Earpro

    Default Earpro

I'm looking to upgrade the earpro a bit. I mean, I have a $900 aviation headset I use to protect my hearing when flying, but I spent not even $50 to protect my hearing at the range! It isn't too bad when outdoors, but indoor ranges aren't so great.

I'm looking at getting an electronic set so I can hear range commands when training... What is everyone using these days?

Howard Leicht Sport Impact. Still only $50. I've only used them outdoors and under cover.

I guess you could spend more on Peltors, but are you getting more?

Oh, and it still costs less than that $900 set you've got.

I have the Peltor Tactical ones. I notice that when my head is turned in certain directions, the outside noises are much louder. Not sure if it is the electronic system or what. May be the ear portion is moving slightly away from my head or something. Seems to happen in the left ear more then the right.

Ask a friend w/ the Howard Leight's to let you try them on first for fitment. For me at least, the cups leave open-air gaps below the ear due to the large size. However, I still use them (along with disposable plugs underneath) because of the ease of changing batteries. I have a pair of Peltor 6S that fit great, but it's a *massive* pain to change the batteries and the little foam mic-pickups are always coming off the plastic crenelated holders.
