True. You can build in the cost to your FSA at open enrollment, and get your ear pro right away, and not be out-of-pocket all at once (if that is a concern/issue). Plus, as stated, it lowers your tax burden each payday. Being a "use it or lose it" source of funding, it does require some thought, foresight and planning to maximize benefit, but that's another thread...

If you have a flex spending account and have a prescription from a doc you can get reimbursed for the cost if the ear pro.
what did you get the prescription to say?

I went to the doc, told them I work in a loud environment and that the standard ear pro wasn't giving enough protection. I took a printout of the MSAs - he wrote it for the product. I bought the ear pro, stapled the prescription to the receipt and turned it in to my insurance, they wrote me a check.

I just picked up a pair of these at Bowers and pretty impressed. Turned off, I couldn't hear any of the ambient noise or people talking on the phone. With the microphone on, it amplified the sound very well. Guy was rolling a cart down the hall and it sounded like a rock slide. I've used Pro Ears Gold before but these are a good buy. I'll see how they do at the indoor range. Good option for those that aren't living in a high noise environment.

Does anyone else, besides me, wear some foamies or rubber plugs under their headset?

I use the Howard Leight Sport Impact headset, but always put a set of the plugs on a string in first.

Depends on the situation. If I'm out in open grasslands I just wear the Sordins. If I'm shooting under an overhang (like some ranges have) or indoors, I'll double up.

I have the same issue. I have to play with them a bit to get them to seal good. I like them but think I might look for something with a little better fit.

Howard Leight Impact Sport with some foamies seems to be the perfect combo for me
