    Default Short Shutdown Story

I've been listing alot for sale lately, so I figured I should also add to the conversation here. (Don't want to be just a trading post hack)

Anyhow, The Friday before the shutdown, my wife and I went to the post office to renew my passport and get her name changed. (she never updated it after we were married 5 years ago.) This is in anticipation of doing some travel next summer. I figured at the time that if there was a shutdown, at least I'd be at the top of the pile. The postman even gave me a little disclaimer that it might be a while till we got them through. SO... Tuesday I get a few packages from the state dept. That's right, two new passports. So for some reason, during a shutdown, passport processing not only keeps happening, but the delivery time is cut in half. Two weeks! That John Kerry must be doing a fabulous job.

Well, what gave me a smile was to imagine that the other agencies would speed up their processing time during the shutdown as well. If only the ATF would follow suit. It would make alot of us here on the forum happy campers.

Feel free to share any other horror stories of the shutdown like this one here.

Not similar, but being in an LE academy right now with the GI Bill both paying my tuition and giving me a monthly living allowance, I'm at risk of no more money coming in next month if any potential deal coming through... Along with all other Veterans in the same boat. Luckily I've got enough emergency find to hold me over, but not sure how long that will last if Congress doesn't pull their heads out of their 4th point of contact.

passports have been WAY faster the last few years. My first one and my renewal were months. Most recent renewal only took about 10 days.

We need to put some passport processors into the ATF to speed up NFA items
