    I'm intimately familiar with CA, i'm actually a refugee from there. I was curious if the new law was worded in a manner that let's you keep the floor plate removable... you know to clean and replace parts. I'm also know that the sheriffs helped with the rewording of the law and affected the "readily convertible" language... I'll look at the actual text of the law.

    This is the revised language of the bill per the AG:

    "Magazines with a capacity of 15 or fewer rounds are not large capacity magazines as defined in HB 13-1224 whether or not they have removable base plates. These baseplates themselves do not enable the magazines to be expanded, and they serve functions aside from expansion—notable, they allow the magazines to be cleaned and repaired. To actually convert them to higher capacity, one must purchase additional equipment or permanently alter their operation mechanically. Unless so altered, they are not prohibited."

    This seems to be saying if a mag can't accept more than 15 rds, then it is a 15rd mag. Overall I think this gives the green light to stick a mag limiter of some kind into a mag, without sealing the base plate. however the last part is a bit vague. What is the difference between "permanently" and temporarily "altering their operation"? conversely this could imply that a mag that requires a mag limiter to be legal, is still illegal? This law is still so confusing.

    This is my opinion, this is not legal advice.

    The Attorney General cannot revise or change the the language of the law. Only the legislature can do that with the approval of the governor. The AG has has stated how he thinks the existing law should be enforced That doesn't stop other prosecutors from bringing charges against someone for violating the law as they see it. We won't know what the law will be until someone is charged and a judge rules on what they think the law means.

    We are essentially being denied our RTKBA due to the ambiguity of the law. It doesn't have to be illegal to have a reduced capacity, 15rnd magazine with a removable floor plate, because it is cost prohibitive to even find out.

    If I am reduced to 15 rounds I would rather have the capped mag in a 20 rd body.

    Is anyone trying to obey the mag capacity law? Its unenforcable at the present time. Why would anyone go to the trouble of making/ modifying a magazine to hold 15 rounds? Even if we all silently slipped into subservience and chose to follow these unjust laws the Senate might simply ban removable magazines, or any magazine that holds more than 7, or 10 rounds. cough California, and New York cough.

    If I didn't already have all the 15+ round mags that I need I would have no intention of following this law.

    I pray no manufacturer makes a gun that takes mags I don't have. I'm glad they made the limit 15. If they had made it 20, not as many people would have taken note.

    I would have noticed still.................. I am PRO choice in my mag sizes.

    Here is another alternative;

    I would rather spend a little less. Not bad price.
