Default KAPA / KBJC / KEIK / KFTG pilots

I know there are a few aviation types around, so I thought I'd see if I can get any leads here.

I'm looking for a partnership to join. FWIW, I'm at 250 TT, ASEL-IR.

I'm not incredibly picky about the airframe -- IFR capable /A or /G would be adequate. I'm mainly a Cessna driver with C152/172/172RG/182Q/182RG time. I've had a small amount of time in a PA-28-181 and PA-28R-201 / PA-28RT-201T. Basically, I'd like things to work. Tired of rentals with radio issues, nav issues (inop VOR/DME), etc.

I'm aware of the Turbo 182RG share available at KAPA. That would be nice, other than I don't have $12.5k to invest in this project. I'd also like to avoid a situation where I'm partners with 12-15 others. I think 10 or less is a good number to have involved.

If anyone has a lead, please forward it my way. Thanks!

There's a well-established club at BJC where the buy-in is relatively low. You pay monthly dues that are credited towards a dry block hour rate. You buy the fuel. They expect participation when it comes time to wash the plane and even for oil changes and assisted annuals. I think it's called Hang Ten or something like that. There are 30-ish members, but I think they own 3 or 4 planes. Bonanza, Archer and I think a Cirrus last time I heard. All the planes are hangared. If this sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know and I'll get you some contact info.

Thanks for that. It's Ten-Hi and I've checked into them. They have 45 members for 3 planes, the two better performing aircraft are booked months in advance. Cool idea, but no thanks.

When I checked, it was a Dakota, Bonanza and (I think) a Saratoga. Would be a great situation if they were more available.

I wish the days of being able to own a 152 or 172 were within reach for a lot more people. Gone are those days I believe.
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

Yah. Isn't that the truth. A friend and I bought a 1946 7AC Champ in 1998 for $13,000. I bet that same plane would sell for close to double that amount today. I flew it 150 hours in a year and pretty much saw everything there was to see within 75 miles of KFNL!

    Good times.

I think those days are gone for most individuals. The initial purchase of a C172/PA-28-161 would not be an issue for many. There are a lot of aircraft available for the cost of an SUV. What I look at is the maintenance cost. A $20000 hit for an overhaul is a lot, not to mention the little gotchas that come up during annual.

A lot more practical route is a partnership IMHO since those same costs are divided out several ways. I once thought that having a few people in on the same aircraft would be a scheduling nightmare. Now I realize that since my average use is south of 200 hours a year, there are a lot of hours it would be available for others as well.
