Bourbon can be made anyplace in the U.S., as long as it has 51% corn in the mash.

Since the days of prohibition Bourbon County Kentucky has been a dry county (and apparently still is).

There is zero legal Bourbon made in Bourbon.

Bardstown, KY claims to be the bourbon capital of the world. It's in Nelson County.

The bourbon is okay.. I wouldnt put it in my top 10..
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

I never see the "plain" on the shelf, only the fruit versions. Been wanting to try it.

They also have a project with Odell, used barrels for aging the beer. It is interesting...

Friend that is starting a distillery thinks Leopold Bros is the best from Colorado, if that means anything.
Leopold Bros original is good stuff, nice and dry. The fruit stuff tastes like straight up syrup though. After a bottle of regular, I tried the New York Apple. It was so sweet that if you cut it with water at 50%, it just tasted like apple juice.

Total Beverage has everything mentioned in this thread so far, and even has a Colorado Whiskey section. I don't know about the Pappy Van Winkle though.
