Obama wants Marines to wear ‘girly’ hats

I guess I don't get it, is not the purpose of a hat protection from the sun/rain/elements? This is military gear, why is style a part of it at all?

Eh, style is always a part of it when you're talking about the dress uniform -- and hell, even the "combat" uniform. I've never heard more whines out of the Air Force than when McPeak changed the uniform to make us look like we all worked for American Airlines or British Airways or when the AF tried to put some blue in their service-unique uniform (which would have camo'd up well against my carpet but not in the Real World) along with a wide freaking belt.

Still, I don't see why they're changing the hat -- there's nothing I can see in the Obama directive that would have kept them from just making a women's hat that looked more attractive on women while keeping the men's hat traditional. Does this mean the AF is going to start making men wear buckets too?

Another entirely unnecessary waste of taxpayer monies. I'm 100% sure there are LOTS of better ways for $8mil to be spent for the USMC.

And as a side note, does the guy on the right (in the article pic) looks like he's wearing the most make-up of the four? Maybe that's what BHO's going for...
