    Default Tarps

Just an abstract thought to add to the list: tarps (the bigger the better, and the heavy-duty variety) came in pretty handy during the storm last month, as did fans to move air around and dry things out. People that had damage needed them, and people that had the items but no damage became really popular very quickly. Much like ammo, those items are not given much priority in good times but become highly sought after when the shelves are empty. ...tarps are widely available right now and not all that costly.

One person I know was in the midst of a $13K re-roofing when the storm hit and was very thankful to have some large tarps to cover the exposed sections.

Costco and/or Sams usually have large (16 x 20 I think), heavy duty tarp 2packs for a decent price.

Short term any tarp will do. Long term make sure the tarp is UV listed / protected.

Those are great. I had forgotten about those. Get a grommet kit, and make custom sizes/shapes.

Neighbor has a blue tarp over the POS motorhome in the driveway ever since the super rains. Nice that they have that, but I wish they'd take it down. Looks like a neon blue whale across from my house.

I also picked up a few extra cheap tarps after this thread. Nothing significant, but I lent my other tarp out and haven't gotten it back yet.

Yep, tarps are essenstial to have around. If it's going to be used for more than a few weeks or an emergency, out of curtisy to your neighbors, please use a neutral brown or green tarp. I get mine at Sportsman's Warehouse.

I just bought two last night. 7' x 9'. I think that is big enough to be useful without being too big for one person to handle. They had blue and gray in that size, I went with gray.
