    Great news!
While my retirement is PERA and this is not good news for them to me it is worth it. I would rather risk a bit on my retirement spiffs than see the state burdened with that mess of an amendment.

I am curious as to how many of those that voted for 66 will still willingly donate a couple thousand dollars of their salary to schools? Just because you aren't required through a tax to pay all that money to schools, doesn't mean you can't still do it. I suspect the ones voting for this will not be donating and only wanted to dig in the pockets of the people who work for their money.

    This exactly.
They rule by authoritarianism. They think their ideas are so good they must be mandatory under penalty of law. On the flip side just because it isn't law doesn't mean you will be punished if you do go and donate your own personal $$$$.

    Exactly 0.0%.

I was discussing taxes with a jackass who eventually admitted that he thought communism was "the way to go". When he told me he thought we should all pay more in taxes I asked him if he planned on donating any money to the IRS in addition to his normal taxes. He looked at me with the "you're an asshole" look and didn't respond. I just said "I didn't think so".

That's one for Colorado! Glad it went down by a big margin, that will give them pause . . . . for a few years

I'm glad 66 was defeated even though my wife's retirement is PERA. I'm sure it will be back next year as a tax on the "rich", hopefully we will have the same results then...

<sigh> My 16 yo step daughter came out of her bedroom when the news was going through the election results. She asked what happened with 66 and told her it went down in flames. She said "That's too bad. It was important that it passed. We would have got iPads." The brainwashing continues in the schools.

tell her to go ask any one person who voted for it. buying her an ipad will get them off much cheaper than if this would have passed.
